The New Building

So Tamara at Fusion Cut and Color, who is getting to be quite a regular contributor & reader of this 'blog, sent me this picture. This, as you may know is the "new building" that has recently opened on the corner of Capitol and 36th. It houses Switch Shoes, several artists in small working spaces on the upper floor, and is the new home of the Multnomah Village Post, although I have not seen the Post's actual location yet - but they're in there.... The owner/developer of the building (whose family has owned the property for many years) was at the last neighborhood association meeting and mentioned something that you may notice, which is that the left hand space has been painted red to evoke the old "little red building" that once occupied (no more than 200 square feet of...) part of the block. According to him, that space will house a gift store, once the operator figures out what kind of gift shop the Village can support. I'll be interested to see what that turns out to be, since we seem pretty well served in that department at this time. Still, it will be nice to have new businesses on the street!

Thanks for the picture, Tamara. I can't come see you for a couple of weeks or you'll find out that I snuck into a SuperCuts for a quickie while I was standing on line at the DMV last week....
